Emily Boespflug A native of Sheridan, Wyoming, Emily Boespflug lives in Jackson where she teaches art classes for the Art Association at the Center for the Arts. Since childhood, Emily has always been moved by the natural world, from studies in science to studies on canvas. A severe concussion following her first year of college interrupted Emily's focus in science and inspired a greater interest in art therapy and painting. After receiving her BFA (cum laude, 2000) from the University of Wyoming, Emily continued to share her knowledge of the healing arts with senior citizens and the chronically mentally ill through an internship in the School of Nursing. Emily's artistic explorations continued down to Florida where she worked at the Wallaby Ranch hang gliding school and began painting murals in homes for three years. Throughout this time, she spent several months traveling to the best flying sites while mastering her plein air painting techniques. Emily continues to work in oil, watercolor and pastel, illustrating the dramatic and diverse aspects of the natural world. Working from her own sketches, photographs and from life, her paintings present an open narrative that reflects her personal emotions through intense color and light. WEBSITE:
